Manufacturing operations for vehicles and components will be consolidated at the Tapukara plant

Assembly Line Step 2

The Tapukara plant will become a unified manufacturing base for Honda India

The OEM says this realignment of its manufacturing operations aims to improve business efficiency and leverage production and supply chain efficiencies. Production has stopped at its Greater Noida plant although administrative functions, R&D and spare parts operations will continue to operate from the site.

Mr. Gaku Nakanishi, president & CEO, Honda Cars India said, “Despite an uptick in sales in the last three months, the current market conditions remain unpredictable for the industry at large. The impact of COVID-19 has pressed us to strengthen our constitution, and to achieve the same, HCIL has decided to consolidate its manufacturing operations by making the Tapukara plant a unified manufacturing base…”

The 450-acre Tapukara site is an integrated manufacturing unit incorporating forging, press shop, body and paintshop, plastic moulding, engine assembly and testing operations.
