Pepperl+Fuchs claims its NRB/NRN series inductive proximity sensors (with reduction factor 1) are capable of detecting every kind of metal at the same operating distance – and over greater operating distances – than is possible with standard inductive sensors. Cylindrical sensor models are available in diameters from 6.5mm up to 30mm with operating distances of 1.5mm up to 25mm. Cube-style sensors are available with dimensions of 40mm x 40mm or 80mm x 80mm, with operating distances ranging from 15mm to 50mm. The company says these sensors are available with PTFE-coated brass housings (cylindrical models) for harsh application environments or a metal housing with a weldresistant surface (cube-style models), enabling them to withstand the impact of metal shavings and showers of hot weld splashes common to automotive manufacturing environments.
