Magneti Marelli SanfordUS – The plant in North Carolina was inaugurated in 1976 and initially made carburettors; it now focuses on modern powertrain technologies including intake manifolds, electronic throttle bodies and engine control systems for cars, motorcycles, powersports and industrial engines. The 90,000 sq.m factory currently employs 400 individuals.

Key operations at Sanford include aluminium die casting, complex machining, injection moulding and assembly. This vertical integration enables the plant to respond flexibly to variations in demand; automotive customers include Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Volkswagen, Harley-Davidson and Polaris. The facility has also achieved the following certifications: TS 16949 and ISO 9001 (quality); ISO 14001 (environment); and OHSAS 18001 (health).

Along with its Powertrain division, Magneti Marelli’s businesses in North America are: Lighting, Electronic Systems, Suspension Systems, Exhaust Systems, Aftermarket and Motorsport. The company has factories in both the US and Mexico.
