ABB has added three new models to its multi-purpose robot range. The new IRB 2600 family features an optimized, compact design and 25% faster cycle times, achieved through the use of ABB’s QuickMove motion control software. The IRB 2600 range is said to offer the best accuracy and speed in its class, helping to increase output by offering faster cycle times and reduced scrap rates. The robot is particularly suitable for machine tending, material handling and arc welding.

The robots have a range of fl exible mounting possibilities, including floor, wall, inverted or shelf, translating to the robot’s reduced footprint. A further feature of the IRB 2600 family are the robots’ compact and lightweight design, which results in a total arm weight of less than 300kg.

The IRB 2600 family now contains three models: two new short arm variants (1.65m) for 12 or 20kg payloads and a long arm variant (1.85m) with a 12kg payload. Up to 27kg payload is achievable for pick and place applications with the wrist held vertical
