Bosch, SamaraRussia – The company’s new plant will enable local manufacture by its Electric Drives division in addition to Chassis Systems Control, Starter Motors and Generators as presently. Products will include: anti-lock braking systems, starters and generators, common rail injectors for commercial vehicles and windscreen wipers.

The site covers a total of 200,000 sq. m. while the floorspace amounts to 22,000 sq. m. and will be used for manufacturing, logistics and administration. The facility will accommodate 500 personnel when operational; the start of production is planned for 2015. The full investment of €50m will complete by 2016.

Gerhard Pfeifer, president of the Bosch Group in Russia and the CIS, said the location of the new plant in European Russia is “perfectly suited” to the aim of increased localisation, “not least because of the region’s highly-qualified specialist workforce and excellent infrastructure”. He added that Samara is “the next step” in Bosch’s long-term strategy of expansion in the region.
