CX-9, Mazda UjinaJapan – The three-row, mid-size crossover is now being made at Ujina Plant No.1 at Hiroshima, with the first units destined for the US and Canada. Mazda says the CX-9 has been tailored for the North American market, which it expects to account for 80% of the forecast global sales of 50,000 per year.

The CX-9 is a high-end model in Mazda’s latest-generation line-up, featuring SkyActiv technology and KODO-Soul of Motion design. North American sales will start this spring.

Coinciding with production of the new CX-9, the Hiroshima complex has also begun manufacturing a 2.5-litre, direct-injection, turbocharged petrol engine called SkyActiv-G 2.5T.
