According to NIMAK its new generation of robot welding guns are designed to meet the requirements of multi-material mix and use in large-scale production for conventional steel applications. The company points out that these are based on a centralised motor and gear unit that reduces weight and lowers interference contours and on the other leads to joining results that are even superior to the previously available systems.
In addition the company says it has developed a new welding process. The magneticDRIVE system utilises high power, high speed microprocessor-controlled electromagnets, which it’s claimed offer welding times of a few milliseconds, providing an alternative to capacitor discharge welding. Using ultra-fast power-generation and slip system the user can set an exact power profile which controls the rise and fall of the electrode force across a large range in milliseconds.
