Thailand – Following a production launch in India, the Thai facility will become the second manufacturing location for the new compact car. From May 2014, the Celerio will be made for the domestic market; at a later date, it will be joined by models with European specifications.
Takayuki Sugiyama, president of Suzuki Motor (Thailand) said that with the Celerio exports to Europe, Rayong will be “increasing its importance as a global production hub”.
The Rayong plant began operations in 2012, making the Swift model for the ASEAN region, and now has a workforce of approximately 1,200 personnel.
