India – The company has made a major investment in its new Automotive Solutions building, tripling the size of the existing service centre in Bengaluru. Oerlikon says the expansion will allow it to provide faster and better service, plus a wider portfolio, to customers for precision parts in a range of industries.
“Complementing the established Asian centres in China, Korea, Thailand and Japan, the new Bengaluru Automotive Solutions facility will enable Oerlikon Balzers to provide the latest technology, know-how and infrastructure virtually on our customers' doorsteps,” said Pravin Shirse, general manager of Oerlikon Balzers India.
Roland Herb, CEO of Surface Solutions at Oerlikon Group, added: "This investment shows the growing importance of the automotive components business within the Surface Solutions Segment and in India. We expect the government's ‘Make in India’ campaign to be a strong driver for the future of the Indian economy. The Automotive Solutions facility is Oerlikon’s third Indian site, established in 2001, when it mainly focused on coatings for cutting tools. Four years later, the company introduced the first dedicated coating solutions for the automotive industry.
