UK – The launch of Nissan Note production at the facility was marked by a ceremony at Line 2 which was attended by Michael Fallon, the country's Minister of State for Business and Enterprise.
John Martin, Nissan’s senior vice-president for manufacturing, purchasing and supply chain management in Europe, paid tribute to the work of the company’s Sunderland employees and its suppliers, as well as thanking the UK Government for its “ongoing support for the automotive industry”.
For the government, Fallon described Nissan’s investment to build the Note in Sunderland as “a very welcome boost to their exceptional workforce, the North East economy and the country”.
In addition to vehicle assembly, the Note will bring work to Nissan’s Sunderland plant and its supply chain in the areas of axle production, cylinder head casting, camshaft machining and engine assembly.
