Zimmermann FZ40Zimmermann says its new FZ40 compact (c) solution allows the machining of both aluminium and steel. The company says it has developed this system particularly for model and mould makers that want to boost their toolmaking activities.

The FZ40 c uses a VH60 2-axis milling head, delivering 63kW of power and 300Nm of torque. The machine builder also provides a tool holder in the form of the HSK-A100. The side walls are filled with a special concrete and are mounted on the machine bed. In combination with the structurally rigid portal, the company claims this makes it possible to erect the machine on a solid industrial floor - usually without special machine foundations

The FZH400 features a water-cooled travelling column, which it’s claimed ensures a constant geometry along the Z axis as well as maximum rigidity in sensitive areas of the workpiece. The machining centre also features a pallet handling capability with an area for setting up pallets during machine operation.
