Mitsubishi OkazakiJapan – An Outlander PHEV was the 5 millionth vehicle produced since 1977 at the facility near Nagoya. The milestone unit was presented to Yasuhiro Uchida, mayor of Okazaki City, for use as a four-wheel-drive emergency vehicle during natural disasters.

Located next to Mitsubishi’s global R&D centre, the 425,000 sq.m Okazaki plant is one of three vehicle manufacturing facilities the OEM operates in Japan. Its 1,600-strong workforce builds the Outlander, the Outlander PHEV and the ASX, last year producing 174,000 vehicles.
