USA – This investment will expand the German carmaker’s SUV production in the US and create 300 new jobs. The plant will assemble the company’s next SUV generations including the hybrid versions.
The expansion includes a new 125,000 sq.m bodyshop which will feature the latest lightweight technologies and joining processes. The current SUV assembly shop will be expanded by 13,000 sq.m and receive a larger, “marriage” station, to improve production flexibility.
The company says all installations can be controlled and updated to new software programmes and that big data applications will be used for intelligent analyses and for an improvement of the production processes.
