The Jenoptik-Votan BIM robotic laser machine promises industrial manufacturers a flexible, fast-working, and cost-effective laser machine solution. The core element is a robot arm with integrated laser beam. The laser coupling is located at the base of the robot so the transport fi bre does not move concurrently with the arm. Jenoptik says this minimises maintenance and replacement and streamlines the system.

The lightweight cutting head (5kg) allows access to confined spaces and the company claims a repetitive accuracy of ±100μm, while the movements of the axis of the laser arm are said to be 30-60% faster than the current standards, thereby enabling shorter cycle times compared to conventional laser robots used in metal working.
