Mexico – The factory in Guanajuato state will begin off-tool and off-process brake pad manufacture in late 2017, with series production scheduled for the first quarter of 2018. ITT says the plant will feature “state-of-the-art” technology in keeping with its global standards, including material science expertise and high product consistency.
“Our customers have asked us to support their global growth strategies by bringing cutting-edge manufacturing capabilities close to their strategic markets,” explained Luca Savi, president of ITT Motion Technologies.
Pasquale Barilla, general manager of ITT’s Friction Technologies business, added: “As a strong regional centre for automotive manufacturing, Silao offers us the ability to enhance service and speed to market while maintaining our high quality standards.”
ITT also has four production locations in Europe plus one in Wuxi, China, which was expanded last year. The company’s R&D takes place in Barge, Italy, and Novi, Michigan.
