China – The automotive production and sales joint venture of Honda in China will now benefit from a third vehicle plant and an engine manufacturing facility at its existing Zengcheng site. The vehicle plant has a capacity of 120,000 units and began production in September.
The third car factory of Guangqi Honda Automobiles (GHAC) is described by the OEM as “an eco-plant” with “various smart features” which not only boasts advanced production technologies but minimises its environmental footprint. Honda claims it features the largest solar power generation system operated by a vehicle-maker in China.
The new plant brings Honda’s total vehicle production capacity in China to more than 1m units per year, combining all GHAC and Dongfeng Honda locations.
