US – According to a statement from the two companies, their commercial vehicle (CV) collaboration in the US will enable Isuzu to strengthen its product line-up and GM to expand its CV portfolio.
Isuzu will produce low-cab forward models for GM, based on the Isuzu N-Series. The vehicles will be distributed by Chevrolet dealers in the US from 2016. In addition, the collaboration will explore the use of GM CV components for Isuzu low-cab forward trucks, while the American OEM will continue to produce and supply 6.0-litre, V-8 gas engines and six-speed transmissions for its partner’s low-cab forward trucks.
The new deal is a continuation of a strategic partnership between GM and Isuzu which has lasted more than 40 years.
