Shenzen BDNTChina – Following a €300m ($374m) investment, the electric vehicle is being made on a modern production line at Shenzen BYD Daimler New Technology (BDNT) and in accordance with the German OEM’s production management system.

“DENZA is the first car that Daimler has engineered from the bottom up outside Germany, and it clearly lives up to its promise to be the safest, most reliable and convenient electric vehicle from and for China,” claimed Hubertus Troska, member of the board of management of Daimler with responsibility for China. Noting the large investment required, he described it as “by far the most serious local electric vehicle effort in China”.

Arno Roehringer, COO of BDNT, added: “Throughout the entire production process, we focus on quality to assure that our customers are getting the best Chinese electric vehicle.” A co-ordinate measuring machine which is accurate to 0.1mm is being used to ensure that both single parts and complete vehicles meet defined requirements. Personnel have also received special on- and off-the-job training.
