China – The 2,938,000 total represents an increase of 10.5% over the previous year and the combined output of the OEM’s various divisions and joint ventures.
FAW-Volkswagen produced 1,539,000 units in 2013, a 14.1% increase year-on-year; medium and heavy-duty truck manufacturer FAW Jiefang made 190,000 units, up 23.7% on last year; FAW Car made 250,000 vehicles, mostly Hongqi, Besturn and Mazda, and achieved a 39.6% year-on-year increase; and Changchun Fengyue Company, the FAW-Toyota JV, manufactured 109,000 units, a 291% increase over 2012.
FAW was established in 1953 and completed its first production base in 1956. It is headquartered in Changchun.
