UK – According to the Society for Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), output dropped by 4.2% during the month compared with the same period last year, with a fall of 1.1% for 2014 to date. A total of 213,603 engines were built in May, and 1,082,651 this year so far.

However, exports increased by 9.7% during the month to 140,407 units, or 705,657 for 2014 (65% of total output). For the domestic market, 73,196 units were made, a drop of 23% on the same period last year.
