UK – According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), 6,681 units were produced in January 2014.
Mike Hawes, CEO of the SMMT, said the new Euro-6 emissions legislation which came into effect in the same month was “a contributor” to a decrease in heavy commercial vehicle (CV) manufacturing, although van production was “strong”.
He added that “the 2014 market will, for some months, continue to be affected by the Europe-wide restricting that occurred last year”.
Exports dropped by 10.8% to 3,236 units, though exports as a proportion of total output increased slightly to 48.4%.
