China – Taizhou Fuju Rubber Belt Manufacture has previously focused on producing drive belts for the automotive aftermarket and for industry in general. From spring 2014, ContiTech will also make V-belts and V-ribbed belts for the automotive OEM market at this location.
ContiTech will make use of a 33,000m2 production complex which was completed at the beginning of the year and has been equipped with new machines. The newly acquired plant in Sanmen, Zhejiang, is within 50km of ContiTech’s manufacturing facility at Ninghai. The company expects to achieve synergies from the close proximity.
"This acquisition enables us to achieve further above-average growth in China," said Heinz-Gerhard Wente, member of the executive board at Continental and head of the ContiTech division. "In a very short timeframe, we are expanding our production capacities in China and strengthening our drive belt business unit."
