Brazil – The tyre manufacturer is investing US$63m in its plant in Camaçari, Bahia. From May 2015, the increased production will deliver an extra 2,100 passenger car radial tyres (PRS) and light truck radial tyres (LTR) on a daily basis, bringing total production to over 10,000 per day. An extra 100 personnel will be required to effect the ramp-up.
“We are investing in key market segments and the growing ultra-high performance and light truck/SUV tyres categories will be the first to benefit from this capacity expansion,” said Ariel Depascuali, president, Brasil Industria e Comercio (BSBR). He said that in the long term the flexibility of the Bahia plant “will help the company address direct customer needs by improving fill rates of these tyres”.
