US – The supplier of automotive parts and systems has signed an agreement to acquire all shares in Gustav Wahler and its general partner Wahler, a producer of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valves, EGR tubes and thermostats. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2014, subject to regulatory approvals.
James Verrier, president and CEO of BorgWarner, described the acquisition as “an excellent strategic fit” from “both a technology and geography standpoint”, adding that the move will create additional market opportunities in both passenger and commercial vehicle applications.
Wahler has locations in Germany, Brazil, the US, China and Slovakia and employs 1,250 staff. The company supplies customers including Daimler, Volkswagen, BMW, GM and John Deere.
The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
