China – The power and automation technology company will supply fast chargers for batteries powering the electric DENZA vehicle from Shenzhen BYD Daimler New Technology (BDNT), the subsidiary between Daimler and BYD.
The fast chargers are wall-mounted at a user’s home, although DENZA can also be charged via a conventional socket. A mobile phone app will enable remote monitoring and control of charging sessions.
Arno Röhringer, COO of BDNT, described the vehicle as “a significant step in sustainable transportation for the Chinese automotive market”, noting the importance of an appropriate infrastructure provided by proven technology partners.
DENZA will make its debut at the Auto China show in Beijing this April; the market launch will occur later in 2014.
