Charlie ShaverChina – To support the demand from China’s growing automotive industry the company is expanding its manufacturing capacity for coatings. Axalta is constructing a new $50m eco-friendly waterborne facility in the Jiading district. Expected to begin production in 2015, the plant will manufacture and supply up to 25,000 tonnes of waterborne products.

“With this new facility, we are expanding our capacity to provide waterborne paints to help China’s auto industry develop sustainably,” said Axalta chairman and CEO, Charlie Shaver.

Over the past two years, the Chinese government has issued a series of regulations to decrease the environmental impact of the automotive industry, including the requirement for all new OEM production lines to use eco-friendly waterborne coating products.
