A new generation of blast turbines specifically designed for shot blasting aluminum components has been developed by Walther Trowal. Because of its lower density the impact energy of aluminum media on the work pieces is considerably lower compared to other blast media.

To offset this limitation the company developed turbines with curved throwing blades, which it’s claimed generate a higher blast media throwing speed than straight blades, increasing media throughput resulting in optimised energy utilisation and shorter cycle times. The company says these new turbines can be easily installed in existing machines.
