Toyota MississippiUS – Established only in 2011, Toyota's facility in Blue Springs has reached the milestone faster than any of its other plants in the country. Toyota Mississippi and its workforce of 2,000 turned out nearly 180,000 Corollas last year.

The plant has over 15 parts and materials suppliers in the state, in total supporting 3,700 jobs. In 2008, the Mississippi facility was chosen by Toyota as a model of sustainability, focusing on four key environmental areas: performance, biodiversity, renewable energy and education. The aim is to join the OEM’s eight US plants which  already have landfill-free status.

Toyota has sold more than 10m Corollas in the US since the model’s debut in 1968, and 40m worldwide. Since 1986, over 21m vehicles have rolled off its production lines in the country.
