ABB Jokab Safety’s Focus II Light Curtains and Light Grids offer an updated means of protecting personnel from hazardous machinery, robots and automated systems via an infrared field, the company says
The Focus II equipment consists of a transmitter and receiver which detect any objects breaking the optical barrier formed by the infrared beams. Any interruption triggers a safety mechanism which halts dangerous machine movement, via outputs from the light curtain. The reaction time is 14-45ms, depending on the number of light beams used. Five LEDs in the receiver and two in the transmitter indicate status.
