OMRON Automation and Safety has intriduced its NX Series safety controllers which use a single network, connection and software solution to provide integrated automation and safety.

The product uses the EtherCAT network in a mixed I/O backplane to enable design fl exibility and minimise wiring costs, says the company. Meanwhile, the single software programming environment, Sysmac Studio, reduces machine and safety design time, according to OMRON. The auto confi guration restart function eliminates the need for tools or software to exchange I/O hardware.

OMRON believes the safety controllers represent “a decisive step” towards the complete integration of safety, logic, motion and vision disciplines, in combination with the new NX I/O system and Systemac NJ Controllers. The integrated solution can help to maximise machine flexibility, safety and productivity for the duration of its lifecycle.

Applications include automotive robotic work cells, large packaging machines and material handling work cells with multiple access points.
