Beijing, China – Ray Bierzynski has been appointed GM China’s first Executive Director for Electrifi cation Strategy. In his new role, Bierzynski, who will be based in Shanghai, will look to speed up commercial realization of GM’s EV technologies in China.

GM currently sells the Buick LaCrosse Eco-Hybrid and Cadillac Escalade two-mode hybrid in China, which are scheduled to be joined by the Chevrolet Volt and Buick LaCrosse with eAssist.

The carmaker is also setting up a battery lab at the new GM Advanced Technical Center in Shanghai, while working with SAIC to jointly develop an EV architecture for the Chinese market.

Bierzynski joined the GM’s Cadillac division in 1978 and since then he has held a series of engineering, design, component development and purchasing roles.
