UK – As part of a £20m programme, the premium carmaker is expanding its facility in Warwickshire by 10,000 sq.m and growing its workforce by 250 personnel across engineering, manufacturing and commercial functions.
The expansion includes the construction of a new chassis and pilot build facility, an extension of the parts and logistics storage area and new offices. The major development work is due to be completed by 2015.
“The improvements at Gaydon are a big step forward, and the development will enable us to streamline and finesse our manufacturing processes which, in turn, will allow us to be leaner and even more competitive,” commented Keith Stanton, manufacturing operations director at Aston Martin.
He added: “We have the vision of being the best producer in the luxury sports car sector and a new facility, along with the support of our flexible, highly-efficient workforce, will enable us to achieve our goal.”
According to Hanno Kirner, chief financial officer at Aston Martin, the next few years will involve the implementation of “the biggest investment programme in the 101-year history of the brand”. The company will inject over £500m into the next generation of its high-performance sports cars.
