Mazda6 AtenzaChina – Changan Mazda Automobile (CMA) is now making the new Mazda3 Axela in Nanjing, while FAW Car Co (FCC) is manufacturing the new Mazda6 Atenza in Changchun. The Chinese market launch for both models will take place in May this year.

The beginning of production in China follows the recent start of Mazda3 manufacture in Thailand, and Mexico.

Nobuhiko Watabe, Mazda’s executive officer with responsibility for operations in China, commented: “The reinforcement of our business in emerging markets and establishment of a global production footprint is one of the pillars of Mazda's Structural Reform Plan, and the start of production of the Mazda6 Atenza and Mazda3 Axela in China represents a giant step forward in our initiatives in this area.”
