The traditional design of a vehicle’s body-in-white (BIW) is challenged by the strong growth of vehicle electrification and the diversity of powertrains and technologies. Today, the key is to offer the most optimized design per powertrain type to maximize car efficiency. At the same time, it is important to keep an eye on possible synergies between the designs of different powertrains to produce more affordable cars. Our S-in motion® PHEV study reveals various innovative solutions with both hot and cold stamping steels which are optimized for PHEV but can also be tailored to alternative powertrains.

Watch this session to discover how ArcelorMittal’s new S-in motion® customizable steel solutions for Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) enable carmakers to meet their sustainability and design challenges at the most affordable cost, with special focus on the IIHS side impact crash requirements and the H-Frame.

The presenters will zoom in on the H-Frame: a sustainable, cost-effective and integrated solution to manage rear crash management by protecting the battery pack and gas tank. You will also learn more about the innovative solutions to limit mass penalty while ensuring excellent anti-intrusion performance to manage the new IIHS side impact crash test requirements.
