Jeep embarks on the production of the 2024 Gladiator at the Toledo Assembly Complex in Ohio, alongside the Wrangler

Stellantis has announced kick-off of production for the new 2024 Jeep Gladiator at the Toledo Assembly Complex in Ohio. The facility is recognised for its shared heritage with the iconic Jeep Wrangler. The 2024 model brings with it a suite of enhancements that are said to push the boundaries of what consumers can expect from a midsize truck. Among these new features, the redesigned seven-slot grille and the larger 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen stand out as focal points of the update. These are complemented by 12-way power adjustable front seats and standard side-curtain airbags, collectively elevating the Gladiator’s off-road capability, interior refinement, technological advancement and safety features.

Bill Peffer, senior vice president and head of Jeep brand North America, said: “More than 5,400 UAW-represented employees at the Toledo Assembly Complex bring their experience, commitment and passion to the job every day to assemble the new 2024 Jeep Gladiator for our customers around the world.”

The Toledo Assembly Complex

The Toledo Assembly Complex, where the Gladiator is produced, is a sprawling facility with over 3 million sq. ft of floor space. It comprises the North plant, which is dedicated to the Wrangler, and the South plant (Supplier Park), which has been the production home of the Jeep Gladiator since 2019.

The South plant has seen an investment of $1 billion in retooling and modernising in preparation for the production of the Jeep pickup truck. Since the Gladiator began shipping to dealers in mid-April 2019, the plant has successfully produced over 345,000 units, showcasing the effectiveness of this investment and the popularity of the Gladiator among consumers.

The complex’s ability to produce vehicles that meet the demanding standards of today’s automotive market is a result of the skilled workforce and the significant investment made to upgrade the facility’s manufacturing capabilities.

It should be noted that the Toledo Assembly Complex was the recipient of wide controversy when the decision was taken to dismiss 68 employees (potentially swelling to a further 300 at the time) as a reaction to the UAW strikes that took hold of North American automotive production last year.

In terms of automotive manufacturing, Jeep maintains its position at the forefront of the off-road vehicle segment in large part by continuously introducing innovations and improvements on the technology side
