2017 Ford F-Series Super DutyUS – The factory will make the F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty chassis cab configurations, alongside Kentucky Truck Plant. Ford says the aluminium body on a high-strength steel (HSS) frame generates a weight saving 350lbs, while components such as axles, hubs and brakes are now stronger to support work demands.

The new frame is made from 95% HSS and is fully boxed from the front to the back of the cab. The open C-channel behind the cab is designed to enable easy aftermarket body upfit and modification; a new, smart controller area network (CAN) interface will also facilitate the connection of electrical equipment. The Super Duty will be produced with three engine options: the 6.2-litre petrol V8, 6.8-litre petrol V10 and the 6.7-litre Power Stroke turbo diesel V8.

Ohio Assembly Plant was opened in 1974 and, in addition to the Super Duty chassis cab, produces the new F-650 and F-750, Ford E-Series cutaway vans and stripped chassis. It employs 1,400 personnel.
