Samuel Schär takes over as CEO of Bühler Group

Bühler Group has appointed Samuel Schär as its new CEO with effect from January 2026. The company sees the leadership transition as a signal of continuity as it advances innovation across process industries, including automotive manufacturing.

Samuel Schär joined Bühler 20 years ago to establish the nanotechnology division. He then led the grinding & dispersing division for several years before joining the group management in 2013 and leading the advanced materials segment for ten years. Later, he took on responsibility for the global services & sales organisation. Samuel Schär studied physics at EPFL Lausanne in Switzerland. Schär succeeds Stefan Scheiber as CEO.

The company announced the personnel change in its leadership back in April of the previous year. According to Bühler, Schär represents continuity and stability towards employees, customers, and partners. More than ever, Bühler plays an important role in the transformation of the food and feed industry as well as the mobility sector towards greater sustainability, according to Schär. The company is known in the automotive sector for its carat type die-casting machines. “We are committed to forward-looking innovations and healthy growth of our company. The previous CEO Stefan Scheiber will be proposed for election as chairman of the board of directors at the next general meeting of the Bühler Group in February. Scheiber looks back on a 35-year career at Bühler, was a member of the group management in various functions for twenty years and was most recently CEO of the company for ten years. Furthermore, Calvin Grieder, the current chairman of the board of directors, will step down at the general meeting after 25 years as CEO, member of the board of directors and chairman of the board of directors.
