FCA SSEPMexico – The FCA facility in Coahuila has become the third in the country and the tenth in North America to achieve this World Class Manufacturing (WCM) status, five years after implementing the system.

Saltillo South Engine Plant (SSEP) assembles the 3.6-litre Pentastar V-6 engine, which powers the Dodge Journey, Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, Dodge Durango, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Chrysler Town & Country. In attaining WCM Bronze status, SSEP joins the Toluca Assembly Plant and Saltillo Truck Assembly Plant in Mexico.

Within North America, FCA’s other Bronze-certified facilities are: Toledo Assembly Complex (Ohio); Trenton Engine Complex, Warren Stamping and Trenton Engine Plant (Michigan); and Kokomo Transmission Plant and Indiana Transmission Plant II (Indiana). Silver status has been awarded to Dundee Engine Plant in Michigan and Windsor Assembly in Ontario, Canada.

WCM was devised by Fiat in 2006 and implemented at Chrysler in 2009 as part of the merger between the two companies. Fiat Chrysler (FCA) says the system has saved a total of $1billion in controllable manufacturing costs.
