Freedman SeatingUS – The integrated technology provider sent a team to Freedman Seating’s premises in Chicago, where it makes seats and related products for commercial vehicles and buses, as well as speciality vehicles, trains and boats. Lectra’s personnel assessed the existing production processes, working methods and customer requirements before recommending the addition of an extra Vector cutter plus Mosaic software.

Freedman already had one Vector cutter but has now added a second. The Mosaic software automatically compensates for any distortion, adjusting the cutting path and ensuring that patterned pieces match precisely when assembled. The IT solution improves accuracy, saves time and gives manufacturers the flexibility to handle diverse patterned fabrics.

“The resulting solution of two Vector cutters, coupled with Mosaic, not only doubles Freedman Seating’s production capacity, but it also gives the company the ability to scale its cutting room as demand continues to increase,” commented Jason Adams, president of Lectra North America.

Freedman has been a customer of Lectra for two decades and is currently undergoing a growth phase. The business has expanded its workforce by 240 since 2011 and now employs 750 individuals.
