Elringklinger starts JLR production10 May 2017 | Automotive Manufacturing Solutions
UK – Under the terms of a £12m ($15.5m) contract, the company will make 36 types of heat-shield and gasket components at its base in Redcar, North Yorkshire, for use in engine bays and vehicle assemblies across six engine variants. JLR’s demands for parts have increased after the opening in 2014 of its Engine Manufacturing Centre at Wolverhampton, West Midlands, which turns out 1,200 engines per day.
“This project is the biggest that ElringKlinger (GB) has ever handled and over the past three years we have been working very closely with Jaguar Land Rover behind the scenes to prepare for the start of production and installing a dedicated team of more than 12 to manage the contract,” commented Ian Malcolm, managing director at ElringKlinger GB. He added that there has been “significant investment” in the plant, including training “to ensure that we can meet the stringent demands of the automotive industry”.
ElringKlinger GB aims to grow its sales by 50% in 2017 and to hire 30 direct operators. Further investment at Redcar is planned to modernise the facilities and accommodate more workers.
