Welcome to the website of Automotive Manufacturing Solutions magazine!
AMS is one of the few magazines dedicated to covering automotive manufacturing, and the only global medium for the sector. With the pervasive nature of carmaking, the industry appearing in one form or another in most countries, this could appear to be a daunting task, but it is one which we relish and look forward to covering in each issue of the magazine.
That said, covering global automotive manufacturing brings with it a responsibility of coverage: carmakers in Asia want to know what new technologies their counterparts in Europe are using, and likewise; carmakers in Europe and the US are interested in the progress being made by manufacturers in both newly-emerging areas and already established centres of carmaking excellence.
As such, in the regional focus articles and throughout our six bi-monthly issues, AMS strives to offer balanced, yet in-depth reporting of the global industry, both revisiting well-known carmaking areas for updates on new developments and innovations, and travelling to those less familiar locations to learn about the techniques used locally. To fulfil this mandate, AMS will be visiting various regions in 2009, including (but not limited to) Korea, Canada, Italy and China.
AMS offers insights into individual manufacturers in the vehicle maker section, focusing on the tools, technology and processes each manufacturer uses to make their products. In 2008, AMS featured smart, Bentley and Magna Steyr among others, while in 2009, there are plans to visit Daimler, TATA Motors and the Fiat Group, and many more.
Some readers may recall our specialist manufacturer coverage. This is back – not from some misplaced sense of loss, but in this era of budget cuts, those that survive on limited resources could well have a trick or two their bigger cousins could make do with.
AMS will continue to feature key interviews with top carmaking experts, articles on technology and materials and what impact carmaking is having on the environment – essential reading to all decision makers involved in automotive production.
